How to choose an NEA-licensed pest control operator

A few simple checks before you book can save money and stress. Here's how to check an operator's NEA registration and compare them fairly.

Updated 23 October 2026. PestSorted is a matching service, not a pest control operator.

1. Check the company on NEA's register

NEA publishes a list of registered Vector Control Operators. Search it for the company name before you book: NEA's list of registered Vector Control Operators. PestSorted only matches you with companies on this list.

2. Ask to see the technician's licence

Technicians doing vector control work must hold NEA licences. It's reasonable to ask the technician to show their licence card when they arrive.

3. Get the inspection and quote in writing

A good quote names:

  • The pest and, for termites, the species
  • The method and the areas covered
  • The number of visits included
  • The warranty: how long and what it covers
  • Any extra charges

4. Compare at least two quotes

Line up quotes on method, coverage, visits and warranty, not just price. Our price guides for termites and bed bugs show published ranges you can use to sense-check.

5. Watch for red flags

  • Pressure to decide on the spot, or "today only" prices
  • No written quote or no company details on the paperwork
  • Vague answers about the method or the products used
  • A warranty that isn't written down
  • Large payments up front before any work is done

6. Ask about the warranty and follow-up

For termites, ask how long the warranty lasts, what happens if termites return, and whether monitoring visits are included. For bed bugs, ask whether follow-up visits are included and whether there's a re-treatment guarantee.

7. For flats and condos, check common property

If the problem may involve common areas, your Town Council (HDB) or management office (MCST) may need to be involved. Ask the operator whether any work affects common property.

PestSorted is a free matching service, not a pest control operator. We pass your request to up to 3 registered operators who cover your area, and you choose who to hire, if anyone. Operators may pay us a referral fee.

Questions

Where can I check if a pest control company is registered?

NEA publishes a list of registered Vector Control Operators on its website. Search it for the company name before you book.

Should I always pick the cheapest quote?

Not necessarily. Compare the method, the areas covered, the number of visits and the warranty. A cheaper quote that covers less may cost more over time.

Do I have to hire one of the operators you match me with?

No. Quotes are free and there's no obligation. You can choose any operator, or none.
