Termite baiting systems
Baiting targets the whole subterranean termite colony, not just the termites you can see. Get quotes from up to 3 NEA-licensed operators.

How baiting works
An operator places bait stations where termites are active, or around the property. Worker termites feed on the bait and carry it back to share with the colony. Over the following weeks the colony declines. The operator comes back to check and top up the stations until there's no more activity.
When baiting is used
- Active subterranean termite colonies
- Homes where drilling or soil treatment isn't practical, such as many flats and finished interiors
- Ongoing monitoring after a colony has been eliminated
Baiting isn't usually the main treatment for drywood termites, which live inside the timber. Local treatments such as foam are more common for those. See termite treatment options.
What it typically costs
Rentokil Singapore lists termite baiting systems from S$700 per year for an annual monitoring contract (Rentokil Singapore, Termite Treatment Price in Singapore). See the full termite price guide.
Making baiting work
- Don't disturb mud tubes or spray the area while baiting is under way.
- Keep to the monitoring schedule. Missed visits slow things down.
- Ask how the operator will confirm the colony has been eliminated, and what monitoring follows.
Questions
How long does termite baiting take?
Baiting relies on termites carrying the bait back to the colony, so it takes weeks rather than days. The operator monitors the stations over several visits until there is no more activity. Ask your operator for their expected timeline.
Is baiting suitable for HDB flats?
Baiting is often suggested where drilling or soil treatment isn't practical, which can include flats. Whether it suits your home depends on the termite species and where the activity is, so get an inspection first.
Do I have to leave my home during baiting?
Usually not, because bait stations are placed at points of activity rather than sprayed throughout the home. Confirm the details with your operator.
What happens after the colony is eliminated?
Operators often suggest ongoing monitoring stations or a follow-up programme. Ask what is included in the price and what the warranty covers.
